How to get your CGM glucose on Alexa

Alexa cannot read a CGM on its own — but with a small bridge, any Echo can speak your latest glucose. Here is what you need and how it fits together.

The three pieces

To hear your continuous glucose monitor on Alexa you need:

  • A sensor that shares data — FreeStyle Libre (via LibreLinkUp) or Dexcom (via Share/Follow)
  • A bridge that reads that shared data and answers Alexa — that is Ask My Glucose
  • An Echo (or the Alexa app) on your account

Why a bridge is needed

Neither Abbott nor Dexcom offers a native Alexa skill that speaks your number on demand. Ask My Glucose fills that gap: it signs in to your follower account, keeps the latest reading ready, and answers the moment you ask — so you never open an app or hold a phone.

Set up in minutes

Make sure your sensor is sharing to a follower account, sign up and link that account at askmyglucose.com, pair an Echo with a 6-digit code, and you are done. From then on it is just ‘Alexa, ask my glucose what is my level.’

Hear your glucose out loud today

Works with FreeStyle Libre 2/3/3+ and Dexcom G6/G7. 14-day free trial, then $4.99/mo (family $9.99/mo).

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with any Echo?

Yes — any Echo signed in to your Amazon account, and the Alexa app on your phone. On newer Alexa+ devices, launch with ‘Alexa, open my glucose.’

What does it cost?

A 14-day free trial, then $4.99/month for one person or $9.99/month for a family.

Do I need a paid CGM plan?

You just need your existing sensor’s sharing turned on (LibreLinkUp or Dexcom Share) — both are free from the sensor makers.
