FreeStyle Libre vs. Dexcom on Alexa
Good news: both work. The difference is only in how each sensor shares its data — once connected, the Alexa experience is identical.
What is the same
With either sensor you ask the same questions (‘what is my level,’ ‘daily summary,’ ‘which sensor’), get the same spoken reading-plus-trend, see the same dashboard, and can use the same family and voice-link features.
How they connect
The only real difference is the sharing app you link:
- FreeStyle Libre — connect a LibreLinkUp follower account (Libre 2, 3, 3 Plus)
- Dexcom — connect a Dexcom Follow account with Share turned on (G6, G7)
Which should you pick?
If you already wear one, keep it — Ask My Glucose supports both equally. If you have both, you can link them and simply ask which sensor is currently reporting.
Works with FreeStyle Libre 2/3/3+ and Dexcom G6/G7. 14-day free trial, then $4.99/mo (family $9.99/mo).

Yes — link both and ask ‘which sensor am I using’ to hear which is currently active.
Speed depends on each maker’s sharing service, not on Ask My Glucose. Every answer tells you the reading’s age either way.
